Front-End Web Developer

My client located near Ipswich Suffolk are seeking a bright and enthusiastic web developer to join their team.  The role will require a good understanding of front end development and styling as well as good knowledge of back end systems and databases which are hosted in the Windows environment.  Creative thinking and agile working is paramount along with creative approaches towards UX and UI considerations.

They have a wide variety of clients across a multitude of sectors, locally, nationally and internationally. Being a small team, the successful candidate has an opportunity to have a significant impact and be a part of the agency’s growth.

What you’ll be doing

You will be immediately involved in project scoping and be able to offer ideas to make it the perfect site, create architectural sitemaps and deliver the required projects on time and on budget. You will be expected to investigate, suggest and implement new technologies which may form part of any project.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

You will be responsible for the front end layout, visual appearance, usability, maintenance and development of existing and new company and client websites. The role will also involve buddying up and support the current lead developer to continue to grow and enhance a bespoke online portal we have developed, meeting all the necessary industry standards.

The role will also include:

  • Meeting with project managers and account managers to discuss requirements. 
  • Thinking through requirements and deciding on the best and most intelligent approach.
  • Writing code either from scratch or by adapting existing website scripts to meet the project requirements to a high standard meeting W3C standards.
  • Being proficient in front end code ensuring full responsiveness across the different browsers and devices.
  • Ensuring that sites are tested for functionality and usability and resolving any bugs.
  • Ensuring that a good level of understanding and knowledge of the latest coding techniques and standards is maintained at all times.
  • Good front-end development skills including XHTML/CSS, Javascript, JQuery and XML.
  • Understanding of ASP.NET (C# and VB.NET) and MSSQL skills.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and IA/usability/SEO considerations.
  • A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work with good attention to detail


  • 1 – 2+ years’ commercial experience 
  • Great with Visual Studio
  • Good with Photoshop / Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Good communication skills
  • Well organised and excellent attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques


    A good understanding of:

  • Sketch
  • Microsoft IIS and web servers
  • Security / hacking issues.
  • SSL Certificates
  • Web applications
  • API’s
